10 Reasons La Quinta is Perfect for Remote Work
IT’S A QUICK FLIGHT TO… ANYWHERE
One of the major perks to living in La Quinta and the greater Palm Springs area is our airport. Due to the large tourism industry here in the valley, daily flights are available to most major destinations in the US and Canada, including San Francisco, Denver, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto and Washington D.C. If you think that’s amazing, wait until you take your first flight. The Palm Springs airport is so chill it makes air travel a breeze again. It’s not recommended, but most days you could easily arrive to the airport 30 mins before your flight and still have plenty of time to grab a coffee (or a quick drink at the outdoor bar) before you take off.
350 days of sunshine
This is an obvious perk of living in the desert, but compared to other desert cities in the southwest, the Coachella valley (where La Quinta is located) has a unique micro climate that keeps our valley warmer than any other destination on the west coast all year long. There is a reason they call this place the playground of the presidents.
Close proximity to the great outdoors
Nature and our close proximity to it is another huge draw for the remote workers. The La Quinta lifestyle allows people to escape the grind and grime of the big city. There’s something amazing that happens to you when you can walk out your front door and be in the wilderness in less than ten minutes. La Quinta is also a convenient 20 minute drive to the east entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, as well as a quick and beautiful drive up to the mountains. During the summer it’s fun to take the Palm to Pines Scenic Byway and take in the cool crisp mountain air. Driving up to play in the snow is always fun too.
Near the Greater Los Angeles area
Lets face it, sometimes you need your big city fix. One of the best things about La Quinta and the Coachella valley is that we’re only a 2-2.5 hour drive from Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. I find myself occasionally heading back to Orange County just for the day.
Lots of coffee shops and cafes
The beauty of La Quinta is that it is a resort community with truly broad appeal. You will be surprised by the diversity of dining options available for such a small city. If you’re looking to get out of the house and work from a cafe there are no shortage of options. Some of my favorites include Chula and Yes Please.
Influx of creatives
Since the birth of the remote work movement, the Coachella valley has experienced a renaissance. The area is perfectly situated for a quick flight (or drive) to any major metropolitan area. As a result, we’ve experienced an explosion of creative energy in our Valley in recent years. That said, Palm Springs has always been known as somewhat of an artistic enclave.
Nightlife
Well, let's be straight up about this one: by no means is Palm Springs nightlife the same caliber as Las Vegas or Hollywood, but due to the relaxed nature of the residents and the resorts there are more bars and nightclubs per capita here than any other city in California.
Shopping
The saying goes that “El Paseo is the Rodeo Drive of the Desert,” and it's true. If that's not your style then there are always the consignment shops and if you're looking for vintage, I think it's safe to say the offerings here are world class.
More square feet = less stress
The price of real estate has exploded in recent years. The Coachella Valley has experienced tremendous growth over that same period, however, your real estate investments still go much further here compared to major metropolitan areas. This is important because you are going to want a pool to soak up all that sunshine.
Golf and resorts
With ample sunshine and countless courses in the area, golfing is a great way to pass those late afternoon or early morning hours you otherwise might have used to commute. If golf isn’t your thing, then perhaps a leisurely stroll through one of our resorts is a better option. Locals are excited for the new Pendry and Montage resorts slated to open sometime next year.
